Nasa shuts down it's cosmic ray analyser mid-way through it's proposed tenure.

Despite costing 33.2 Million to build and deploy (and an additional 1.2 million per year to run....dubious what running costs would be?) NASA has shut down the ISS-CREAM because they couldn't remove the lead scientist and replace it with one of their own.

"NASA astrophysics program director Paul Hertz said "The collaboration “did not generate any science in its first year,” noting that reviewers recommended against continuing the project under its existing leadership. “It’s up to somebody to write a proposal and demonstrate that if we were to turn it on and give them money, then we would get science, and the science would be worth the money.”
