I’m old enough to remember the Hale Bopp comet and the mass suicides at Heaven’s Gate residence. My recollection is the group planned the suicides to coordinate with the comet’s path near Earth; with the purpose of transitioning to a higher level/realm. How’s that for a controversial topic to investigate?

I grew up in San Diego & still live in the area. I think the mass suicide happened in 1997 (thats 2 years after I graduated high school). I saw the news broadcast live & immediately drove out with some friends to the Heaven’s Gate house. We lived only a few minutes away from it. The scene was crazy.
